Health and Safety Policy
Our Commitment
Wimbledon Racquets and Fitness Club (WR&FC) will provide a consistently safe environment for its employees, members, and guests.
Safety is the club’s primary concern, and we have an obligation to ensure that we consider the safety and wellbeing of everyone – this is at the forefront of everything we do.
The Manager will oversee the daily operations of the business and he will ensure that the club is legally compliant. Process will be detailed and implemented for employees – who must have appropriate training and be competent to complete their tasks in a safe manner. Each process will have an appropriate risk assessment. Should anything be deemed high risk or has the potential to cause severe harm it will not be a process conducted by our employees, but the club would seek external professional services.
In addition to our own provision, we will utilise the expertise of external companies to maintain our equipment proactively and regularly, ensuring we are not reactive to problems occurring.

The Law
The Club has a legal obligation to have this policy – detailing our commitment to health and safety provision.
The Health and Safety at Work etc Act 1974 (also referred to as HSWA, the HSW Act, the 1974 Act or HASAWA) is the primary piece of legislation covering occupational health and safety in Great Britain. The Health and Safety Executive, with local authorities (and other enforcing authorities), is responsible for enforcing the Act and several other Acts and Statutory Instruments relevant to the working environment.
Both criminal and civil law apply to workplace health and safety. They are not the same. As an employer, WR&FC Ltd must protect its employees and volunteers from getting hurt or ill through work.
