Code of Conduct

Introduction

Wimbledon Racquets and Fitness Club (the “club”) exists for the benefit of the community in providing a safe place for its members to come and participate in sport and enjoy social interactions at the club. 

The purpose of this code is to state clearly what is and is not acceptable behaviour. 

Who this code applies to

This policy applies to everyone involved in the activities of our club including:

  • Employees
  • Members
  • Sports coaches and anyone supporting them
  • Visitors
  • Parents and guardians.

Members are responsible for their guests conduct, and parents/guardians are responsible for children in their charge.  Please ensure they behave consistently with this code.

Where this code applies

Our policy covers conduct that occurs on the club’s premises or when representing the club elsewhere, including on social media.

Code of behaviour

  1. Be respectful, welcoming, and friendly towards other members and guests.
  2. Respect the rights, dignity, and worth of all participants regardless of age, gender, ability, race, culture, religion or sexual identity.
  3. Respect club staff, volunteers, and officials such as referees and accept their decisions.
  4. Do not use bad, inappropriate, or racist language.
  5. Do not bully, intimidate, or harass anyone.
  6. Respect the building and the facilities.
  7. Courts must be booked and paid for before play commences.
  8. You must be present when a court that you have booked is used – you can’t book a court for use by others.
  9. If you are playing with a guest then the guest fee must be paid and the guest registered at reception before play commences.
  10. Ensure you use appropriate footwear to protect court surfaces.
  11. Dress appropriately whilst on the court or using the gym.
  12. Leave your court at or before your booked time so as not to impact other users.
  13. Enjoy the bar facility but do not adversely affect the enjoyment of other members.
  14. Ensure you do not take risks or endanger yourself or other members.
  15. Talk to the club Safeguarding Officer about any concerns or worries you may have about yourself or others.
  16. Report to the management any rule breaches or any problems with facilities.

Disciplinary Sanctions

Our club may take disciplinary action against anyone who, breaches this code. Any disciplinary measure will:

  1. be based on the evidence and the seriousness of the breach.
  2. be determined by our articles of association, by the sporting governing bodies’ rules and English law.

Sanctions can include suspension of membership or expulsion from the club.
